Photographer Comment: Okay, this is how it started: I was at the Delaware shore this weekend, looking for symmetric objects that would make a good square photo. As luck would have it, there was this round brown THING. It was rubbery. My best guess is that it is the core of a baseball that had been floating around long enough for the core to rot off and all the wound rubber cord to come unwound. Anyway, there it was, so I took its picture. Then I inverted the levels, selected the ball, and hue-shifted it green. This is undoubtedly the most abstract, heavily manipulated photograph I've ever made. It takes on all sorts of crunchy, Aquarian, eco-friendly implications this way.
