Photographer Comment: This image is the result of working with both the current assignment themes in the same image. I started with my camera on tripod, lit by a snooted off-camera flash, fired from the side. I set the cameras flash handling to "Slow Shutter" so that the room light would fill in after the flash went off. During that longer exposure time, I moved into a new position, exploring the juxtaposition of the eyes and light qualities without trying Too hard to control the outcome. There were several exciting ones as I shot, but I finally chose this one for its jarring disturbing quality with the offset eye levels as well as they way the space between them is collapsed. I added digital noise in Photoshop, along with other tweaks of the values and colors to heighten the innate "psycho" quality. Not a Pretty image, I felt this one maybe spoke to the idea of the distortions we apply when we become fixated on an unpleasant past event or memory..
