Photographer Comment: Life has intruded significantly on my ability to go make the images I want and have in my head, but responsibilities won out. In the two hours I had this weekend, I did two Jay Maisel exercise - "Go out empty, make the images you find" and "fifty feet from home". (Sometimes it's "in your hotel room only...") Spent an hour with a pile of leaves up against my garage door. Took an hour because the light was dim (but beautiful) and exposures were measured in seconds. A great demo of another Jay Maisel quote - "Shape is the enemy of color." The red leaf is all about color, and it's a simple shape. The yellow leaf is all about shape because of its complexity, despite the color being wonderful. Sometimes you have to take what you can get..
