My approach to photography is to create art by focusing on the pictorial quality of common objects. This image was created for one of PHOTOWORKSHOP.COM's weekly assignments. The theme was to photograph outside flowers in a creative way. When I saw these seaside daisies growing wildly along the California coast, I knew I had found my subject for the assignment. To make the image more interesting, I tried a low point of view and composed the flowers so they were backlit by the morning sun. I fired the built-in flash to add some fill light and emphasize the texture of the leaves and stems. The result was a very graphical and almost abstract image.
