Ontario
The workshop is the best money I have ever spent on my photography since the camera! It makes you think and it makes you see - photographically.
Oregon
I started enjoying this workshop the first day I joined. I'm so glad I did...it gives me the encouragement to keep going ahead as a photographer.
Georgia
Well, I’ve just finished my first three months in the workshop, and I can honestly say that I've learned more, been exposed to more talent, and made more friends in that time, than I did in the last ten years. To any new folks just signing up, thinking of signing up, DON'T HESITATE. This will be the greatest learning experience of your photographic life. It just keeps getting better and better, bigger and bigger.
Colorado
Shortly before joining the workshop, I was considering quitting photography all together. I had been doing architectural photography for many years and had started hating taking pictures of buildings. I had decided I needed to change what I was taking and start doing something else. When I go through the bio pages I get inspired, challenged and a bit intimidated at the talent you all have. Reading the messages is like having a group of photography experts combined with a group of motivational speakers. I could not attend enough seminars, classes, or workshops to get the knowledge you all give out for free. I owe you all so much more than I can ever give back. You have given me back an enjoyment that I had lost. I'm so fortunate to have found this place. THANK YOU!”
New York
This site gets better every day. Have you ever seen such participation? Very cool. And the images! My god! incredible! you, have created the best g.d. photo site on the web. Take a bow.
New Zealand
I do not wish this forum to become a place for my personal life but I just want to say that I find it incredible that so many people from so far away would take the time to send their love and best wishes. The power of the Photoworkshop family.
Pennsylvania
I want to say that it is incredible what this board has brought to our lives. This is not only a workshop for learning and improving our art, but a forum to form incredible friendships, the like I could have never imaged when I joined. I wanted (as I am sure others do) to thank you for
this extraordinary opportunity."
Ohio
I will say again, this workshop has been a major influence in the past year and has inspired by passion for photography tremendously. It has pushed me and awakens me in some areas, where I would perhaps have stumbled on later, but much later. It is the only place I know of, where the community and tools are present to grow as a photographer. I hope as part of this community, I can contribute the same to keep new members stimulated. This place is the best on the net and everyone uses it differently, but I am glad it is here to use.
Colorado
I joined over a year ago, most likely in the same shoes as you. While I can't say I'm a pro yet, I feel I'm moving up in the ranks. With the help of this forum, I have really expanded my expertise, everyone is very helpful. My advice is to jump right in and ask all those questions you've always wanted to ask someone.
New Jersey
You are in the right place. I have watched numerous beginners flourish here.
New York
This workshop is very exciting! It's giving me inspirations and a push towards creativity in my life! Offline...what a great bunch of people we have met and became close to, we would've never met if it wasn't for this site!
Florida
I just revisited much of the workshop and spent time in the editing room as well as several others. I just marvel at what a great job Robert, Daniel, Judith, et al, have done with this concept. I've almost taken it for granted for the past two years but it's truly amazing. We are on the cutting edge and constantly expanding and improving. I feel so privileged to be a part of this group. THANK YOU.
Utah
Keep shooting and get involved with this workshop. You will learn more than you think you will from these people.
Although this is an internet workshop. This group of photographers is tight and will invite you to learn and grow along side them. I have found that out first hand. So welcome!
Maryland
Welcome, this is the best place to become a better Photographer, you will be privy to theory in action. I for one can't wait to hear the issues you will come up with. Keep posting, active and don't ever think a question is dumb. We all learn from each other.
California
My involvement with the PhotoWorkshop, albeit a short journey thus far, has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. It is a pleasure to be one of its associates and I have come to view the folks I have met and communicated with as my extended family.
New York
Not that I need to expound on the incredible benefits of being a Photoworkshop member, but I thought this was an interesting and unique one. A portfolio client booked an outdoor shoot and as happens the weather rendered the day a washout. Booked for the remainder of my 2 days in the New York area before heading to Canada and bummed at loosing this lucrative client, I informed her that I had no available openings for her shoot and would be leaving for Canada. To my surprise he said she would be willing to meet me in Canada for the shoot! (I must be good) A few call to the Canada workshop members and I was offered the use of their studios, location knowledge and
support contacts. Without the workshop I would have lost this job, and would not have been introduced to these wonderful and talented artist, many of which I now call friends and collogues. Thank you Robert and company!
Ohio
You have come to the right place if you are looking to learn, grow, make friends and share. Keep active - the more you participate, the more you will learn! This is a wonderful place.
Massachusetts
I sincerely believe the single best investment I made this year was joining this site. It is the interaction with fellow members and the wealth of relevant information held on this site that has given me value far beyond what I anticipated. What I have internalized from this site in three short months cannot be measured, or described. Thank you, Robert, and all of the Photoworkshop staff for making this place what it is today.
Chicago
There is not a better workshop anywhere suited for amateurs, or pros for that matter. This is more than a place to improve your photography skills. You can build life long friendships here that will not only enrich your personal life but your professional one as well. Stick around awhile, and if you get involved you will see what I am talking about.
New York
I can't believe the support I've received from so many of you. I've never been one to accumulate friendships...a loner so to speak....but suddenly you've all become an integral part of my life. Never realized the spiritual ramifications a few pixels could have. I've answered all of my emails already, but once more would like to thank Robert, Judith and Daniel for providing the grazing land in which to chew our cud.
California
This is truly the finest photography site on the internet. It seems to me that the level of work is continually rising here and really shows with this last assignment.
South Pacific
Thank you for the opportunity to take part in the Photoworkshop. I have certainly learnt a lot from my involvement even though we are far away in the South Pacific. (The magic of the internet). There are cultural differences in our two diverse societies but our common bond of photography overrides all.
San Francisco
You got it! Nothing is out there that you are missing. That is why we're here...it's the most fascinating site on the web. With definitely the most amazing photographers. Spend a day going through everyone's bio page and you'll be blown away by most. Also their websites are great. I too, many months ago, realized that all those old sites and chats one use to frequent are worthless today.... they are all so boring...this is the place!
Wisconsin
I'm having a great time learning and perfecting this art on our web site. I feel quite honored to have my gun image picked for first place in this assignment. My understanding has grown so much since I took it. I feel like I'm over the hump in controlling exposure. I feel my style is starting to come to the surface. Now the creativity and real fun can begin. All this in only a couple months!
New York
Before I joined I visited often. I joined when I felt ready to share my images. I had no idea what I was in for. I never imagined the amount valuable information I would have access to. This place has given me direction. Thank you so much for creating Photoworkshop.
Maryland
Since joining, I have found this site to be a great place to gain helpful insights and honest opinions that I hope will cause me to improve. As well as a place to have some fun discussions and see some great work. I think you'll enjoy it too.
Utah
I also want to say how much I enjoy participating in this workshop. It is fuel for my creativity, and my hunger for knowledge is most certainly satisfied.
New York
This is the definitive internet family of photographers who showcase an extraordinary body of work, with a spirited interaction to boot! Once you are aboard, the momentum carries you non-stop.
Illinois
Coming up on my one year as a member mark. I picked out a zillion shots since joining plus a two others. They are not in time order but you can bet the better ones are later ones. I still have a long way to go, but what progress I have made is because of this forum. I cannot thank all of you enough for your comments and encouragement. Your telling it as you see it has helped me see how my images are perceived by those with truly good "eyes."
Pennsylvania
Welcome! I am a new member too, and have found this to be an incredibly supportive and helpful group. I have learned a lot in just the few weeks I have been here. I bet you will experience the same.
Florida
It is hard to place a mark as to where I was when I joined this amazing group and where I am now. I know I have grown both in technical knowledge through the extensive tutorials and creatively by seeing so many great images posted by some great photographers. I have learned equally from the critiques of my images and those of my fellow members. I have also learned to think carefully about composition when I in turn have remarked on other posted images. Most of all, I have valued the fact that everybody is positively constructive rather than destructive, as is so often the case on public boards. There is a special sense of community here that you, Robert, and your team have created. Thank you for that.
California
Your site has offered not only the much needed words of wisdom, viable options for improving my imaging and the camaraderie that has been so motivating, but also for the promotion opportunities that have allowed me to reach far beyond my own backyard in promoting my work. You have created a wonderful environment for growth, interactive inspiration and a place where newfound friends and family can flourish amongst the knowledge.
California
I have learned So much from all of you and am so grateful to be a part of this wonderful community of creative souls.
New York
Sure glad I joined!! Am learning so much, still stay back a bit because I am still feeling "NEW" but am getting a lot from just observing and reading the "thread" It is a wealth of information and appreciate all the feed back in critiques. THANKS!
California
What you have created here is a gift for all to savor. From the diversity of opinions expressed on the forum and critique page, to the opportunity to express ourselves creatively through participation is a blessing. PWS motivates, inspires, and challenges us all to be the best we can be...not only creatively, but as compassionate, reasoning human beings, as well. Thanks for all of it.
Connecticut
I feel much growth in the past year, and I credit that to the high standards that are expected here. When I started here, I only wanted to take better pictures, but this place has inspired me to keep raising me own self-expectations. Lets us all clink (very carefully) our cameras in a universal toast to PWS and another year of growth and inspiration.
Wisconsin
PWS means so much to me. I have learned so much here, not just from the encouragement of others, but from the participation itself. The opportunities to grow and to shine here are astonishing. The most meaningful aspect is to be part of the group. You guys are the greatest.
Arizona
Thanks to all the great info!!! Much appreciated!!! So glad I joined this site, you are all a great help!
Caifornia
Welcome to the right place! You will be amazed at all that is available here. Great opportunities, incredible knowledge and awesome inspiration given generously by talented members. The options are mind-blowing. Post your images and put one up on the critique page weekly. The growth happens quickly around here! Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, Phil for taking the time and interest to help me with my photographic journey! Thank you to all the members of Photoworkshop who have shared their vision with me. I am deeply touched and indebted to all who have unselfishly made this place so very special. From the newbie to the seasoned pro, all your images have taught me to see and feel once again. Your encouraging comments and critiques have sparked an enthusiasm in me that I've not known for quite some time.
Great Britain
WONDERFUL! WONDERFUL! WONDERFUL! I have learned so much from the light cage interactive exercise than I have from any book. Farber's approach is wonderful, gentle and non-condescending. Pass along my comments to him.
California
Quite often accomplishments are the result of something far greater. To a large extent my images and the resulting portfolio is the product of Photoworkshop members who have shared their passion for photography. The diversity of images created by the members has been a constant source of inspiration and education. I thank you all, past, present and future, for helping me to realize all that I see.
Norway
The best thing with PWS is probably that I can visit at any hour - day and night - and even from the most remote jungles of Africa. I have never before had so much fun in photography as after I joined this PWS. For me, the weekly assignment is my training/exercise grounds where I do my visual push-ups and force myself to do new personal work.
Australia
I have to say that it is by far the best site I have seen on the net to date. All other photography sites are dwarfed in comparison.
Texas
PWS is a unique concept where photographers from all over the world can come together to discuss and critique each other's work, as well as, learn valuable information in photographic technique and artistry. The interpersonal relationship between the members really provides a "family" environment. Each member is serious in learning and selflessly assisting other members in their photographic growth.”
California
Welcome to the right place! This is the best growth oriented photo site on the net. Lots of talented members willing to share their knowledge make suggestions for growth and inspire you to think beyond conventional photo parameters. You will be amazed at all that is available here, great opportunities, incredible knowledge and awesome inspiration given generously by talented members. The options are mind-blowing. I must say this feels like the start of a new school year. Lots to learn and new friends to meet. It's very exciting and I'm looking forward to everything, including the assignments and sharing ideas with everyone. What a fantastic concept! Thanks for putting it together.
Israel
I was just browsing over the postings on the Forum tonight and just stumbled upon the announcement! I am greatly honored to be selected and to have one of my images for Image of the Week, co-mingled with others I typically will browse further and look at each members bio-page to see more of their work. In doing so I would say that each of you have had a very strong and positive influence on me. Photoworkshop has been instrumental in helping me improve my craft. Thanks again for all your encouragement and wise counsel.
New York
PWS has been an amazing place of support and wealth of information. Made many close friends which is worth more than all the gold in the world! Been a GREAT year so far and the best decision to join!!
California
Welcome to the greatest site on the net. There's so much to be learned here. Not to mention an endless wellspring of inspiration, insight, opportunities and a family of unique, creative individuals.
New York
I'm quite sure that I speak for every member of the workshop in saying that the concept of this workshop with all of its aspects from just general ideas discussed via message board, to Robert's comments on a particular images, is incredible, simply incredible. It far surpasses what I thought it even might be when I excitedly accepted membership, that now I am only able to shake my head in wonder at the next new installment.
Canada
To grow as an artist one must constantly seek out the wisdom of one’s peers. Through PWS, I have been able to learn from a variety of different photographers of many different skill levels from many countries around the world. Only through such an endeavor would I be able to keep my eyes as wide open and my mind free so as to expand my photographic vision.
Nevada
Suffering terribly from a crooked back because I'm so mesmerized by what you've done, I don't have the sense to get out of the chair and stretch once in a while. The critiques are so informative and invaluable for developing my eye. It is especially helpful to hear your voice and your tones in the critique...it makes all the difference in the world. There's nothing else like it on the net--such innovation and so much attention to detail. Thank you so much!
Idaho
PWS has rekindled the fire I feel for photography as a fine art.
New York
Thank you for giving me and other members an opportunity to learn from one of the photographic legends. I look forward to continual education.
Idaho
Congratulations!!! Every critique is a learning experience. Thanks a bunch.
Sweden
Isn’t it just wonderful to hear Robert’s critiques and learn from it?
Florida
I think one thing people must understand is that they will get out of the Photoworkshop what they put into it. They must take the information you offer and participate with other members to get the most from it. I've met great people and gotten a lot of good information. I know many other members have skills which are far ahead of mine, and frankly, these are exactly the people I want to learn from.
New York
PWS is a bright shining star, a beacon with which we all navigate to find friendship, artistic expression and discourse on a myriad of subjects. It is a family in the truest sense of the word; so comforting, knowing you can connect with so many good people around the world.
Colorado
I was just browsing through the bio pages and it's amazing to see all the fantastic images. There's some really outstanding talent in this group. It's also interesting to see how everyone's work has evolved, grown and improved over the years. I find it incredibly inspiring! This group more than a New York thing else I feel has helped me move forward in my work and the way I think about how I photograph.
New York
You'll like it here...it's comfortable, like a favorite old chair or an old broken in pair of shoes. I dare say, we're a friendly lot.
Connecticut
When I look at some of the work produced by members, and I think “I want to shoot photos like that,” it's incentive to continue to learn and grow. I need a lot of help with the technical issues involved in Photography, and reading the boards helps me understand a bit. It gets overwhelming at times because there is so much to learn, so much that I don't know. But PW members have always been kind and answered my newbie questions. They have also been honest whenever I've asked for opinions.
North Carolina
Their hard work and constant attention to their members is impressive. Seems that there is an awful lot of "giving" on this site. The community of photographers is amazingly supportive to one another on both a professional and personal level. I recently went to New Mexico and heard that another member lived out there. I immediately was introduced and invited to go on a photo shoot with him once I got out there. We got together and photographed throughout the day. It was excellent! His generosity was enormous. His knowledge of the area and its history was amazing. I got quite the tour. How often cans something like that happen without the support of such a wonderful site and its members? Even after being a member for a year, I'm still finding new information and I'm constantly being challenged by the assignments and the questions the members pose to one another on the forum.
New Mexico
Being a member of Photoworkshop and having a place to post and get feedback on my photographic skills gave me the courage to show people my work. I have now been hired to take photographs for several clients in my area; one of which is a large National campaign.
North Carolina
As a result of the relationships developed here and the knowledge gained I decided to develop a web site for our Portrait Studio. That has been the one main influence from the workshop that has had the greatest impact on our business.
Idaho
Thanks for a wonderful website and thanks to those who put in the hours of work to build and maintain it. It's a wonderful visual experience.
Washington
I've been on this site for about 2 months and want to say that I'm hooked. I love the feed back, candor and I learn SO much from it all. I know I'm just one more wannabe, but I love taking photos and love it when I occasionally get a good one. Especially love this week's assignment. Once I develop a bit more chutzpah, I will give my own feedback.
Arizona
PWS is an excellent school to learn the ABC of photography. You have numerous videos and exercises you can do here at PWS. And by being active at the critique page (post your own, also critique pictures,) and do the weekly exercises at the weekly assignment page, and you'll grow fast.
Canada
Over the past few years the PWS workshop has been a big factor in moving me from where I was 4 or so years ago to where I am today. For me, my photography is not just my full time job but a major part of my life and PWS has been instrumental my growth as a photographer.
Alabama
This place is an inspiration for me.... posts are educational, assignments force me to think and experiment, but mainly it's the images that I see that make me want to keep trying to improve. Thank you to everyone who shoots and shares and makes me sees things. You all really are such an inspiration.
