First assignment:
Had never used a tripod before. It will take some time to get used to it!

I am just starting this book along with about 3 others.
But I thought I would come to the forum and see what other people have posted.
I really like this as your first assignment photo.
There is great tonal value in the dark and light areas. The subject is framed well in the image. The composition is interesting with all the fine detail in the stone.
The lighting looks a little warm to me. How did you setup your white balance? Automatic?
