What an amazing book!  I got it for Christmas and can hardly put it down.

I definately like candid shots...and shots that tell a bigger story.  I also like black and white photography.  When I look at old black and white photos, I feel a sense of wonder and mystery about the past and the people in the picture.  I also think black and white drowns out unnecessary distractions in the photo...like if you have a great shot of your subject but a cluttered background.  Finally, I like feet, fingers, hands, ears, eyes...so beautiful.

Here's my attempt to capture my style.  In the first picture, I think it might be a little off with regard to how it's framed. In the 2nd picture, I'm trying to capture the loving relationship between my daughter and her dog.  I played with the saturation settings on the camera to get the coloring.

Yay!  I'm so glad someone else is joining me on here!  I got the book for Christmas too, and I love it so far.

Your pictures are really fun! What kind of camera do you have?

Thanks!  I have a Canon Rebel xSi.  It's a fun camera, but I have to confess it has more functions than I know what to do with yet!

I have a Canon 40D, so I think our controls are pretty similar.  Maybe we can learn together!

Thanks for your kind words.  Regarding the B & W images, I have a setting on my camera that allows me to shoot in monochrome.  I find the black and whites turn out a lot better when I make the adjustment on my camera vs. in a photo editing program.

I ADORE the one with the dog!  great composition, I love how the dog is looking right at me, and I think maybe b & w would make it more dramatic as well.  But I love it as is too!
