Nature Photography - Assignment 2

This shot was selected from among MANY. I liked the dynamic tension between the foreground (rocks, natural shore) and background (lighthouse, man made structure). I also tend to prefer vertical formats that have a pull from "here" to "there" vs. some of the horizontal framing of other shots taken during this shooting session.

It's a nice sharp image that really does emphasise the foreground - appropriately I believe in this case. I'm not sure but from where I'm sitting part of the sky seems a bit over exposed. What do you think?

This image was a good candidate for HDR but I only shot one image. Photoshop helped to darken much of the sky and lighten the rock foreground. I chose to leave the area around the lighthouse lighter to use brightness and contrast to set it off. Without HDR, there was too little information in the light area although ... it would be possible to "paint-in" more detail into this bright area. I did use 5 exposures and HDR techniques for Assignment 1. HDR is a new technique for me and I'm experimenting with it.

Wow, really nice! Wondering if the lighthouse should be on the left or right rather than centered? Where was the shot taken?
