Bill's Chapter 1 Exercise

Doesn't look like there are many participants but here goes my three submissions for Chapter 1. I'm trying to go through the book while I'm on vacation and will probably combine the next few exercises into one.

Hi Bill
I like all your photos. It took me a while to figure out your reflection is in the cafe picture. This is a great example of an image better in b/w. (I think color would make it too distracting). In photo 68, I love the texture on the wall. A seeming blank space, but not at all.

Nice captures - the first three grabbed my attention the most. Are you happy with how they turned out?

Hi All, thanks for the comments. I still find them not as enticing as the ones I see when I look at "professional" B&W and I need to understand how to jump that chasm. Next three to be uploaded soon.!

Next set, with more experimentation on exposure and depth of field. Next is the hardest which will be people. Hope no one punches me !!

Another set of nice captures.
The thing that sets apart really great B&Ws from average ones are the tones, textures and contrast that are available in a scene.
