Assignment 1: Capture an authentic expression

Took these this morning - I think my daughter can look a bit angelic in her robe with her hood on, even when she's eating oranges! (which have been cropped out  )

Truth be know these aren't my best but I thought I should post something as I haven't done so in a while.

Taken with a Nikon D7000 and a Sigma 17-70mm lens:

I do like the cropped photo of the second photo, just focusing on you daughter's eyes.

It's inspired me to start another project - A series of photos focussing on the eyes of people as they have different expressions.  I'm calling it "Windows to the Soul" - not easy though - getting sharp photos of the eyes with people having natural expressions.  It's almost like a macro shot, having to be close up to get the detail.

That sound like a cool  project. In one of the workshop books I have, I think it was the macro photography book there is an assignment about taking close up macro pictures of a person's body, such as eyes, hands, neck, etc. I haven't done this assignment yet, but it is suppose to show you photography of a person through a different view point. We are so use to taking a picture of the whole person that we don't realize there can be beautiful pictures taken with use body parts of the person instead, such as the eyes. Let me know how that project turns out and I will try to find the assignment and book to share with you.

It's slow going   You can see it on my Facebook page but trying to capture sharp pictures of someone's eye without it being artificial is actually quite tricky.  Sounds like the macro book is worth a read though.  Right now I've got my head in a boudoir photography book.
