I have just purchased the photographing children book to improve my skills in this area.  Such a great book, easy to read, loads of ideas and new things to try.  Here is a pic that hopefully depicts my style - candid/lifestyle.  I like to photograph children doing something or interacting with other people or their environment to try and get a more natural shot.  Please provide me with any constructive feedback you have...onto chapter 2!

Welcome to the forum  Smiley There are a few of us that have this book as well and I think we all enjoy the candid opportunity shots that photographing children presents.

You've got a nice photo there - good depth of field, nice contrasts for the black and white too. About the only comment that I would make is that it seems to me there might be a bit too much background in the photo. It might be interesting to see what it would look like if some of the background on the left was cropped off.

Cheers,

Malcolm

Welcome JCAus22 to the forum. Most of the posting I see for this assignment the photographers style is more of the candid/lifestyle photography. PWS has a book called Portrait and Candid Photography. When you are done with the Photographing Children's book, you might want to check out the Portrait and Candid book to expand your style. I agree with Malcolm that some of the background is a little distracting that cropping the subject will improve the picture. Nice picture.

Thanks for both of your feedback - I am definitely keen to get the Portrait and Candid photography book, along with a few others!

Am already gathering ideas for the chapter 2 project, hopefully will post something soon.

Heading out for a sunrise shoot in the morning to practice a landscape, not my usual field so will be interesting to see the results!

Glad to help with the feedback. Someday I would like to get a good sunrise shot as currently I have more of a chance for the sunset shots then a good sunrise. Looking forward to see your assignment 2 photo.
