Chapter 6 Assignment - Playing With Scene Modes: Pet Portrait Mode

I'm just skipping ahead of Chapter 5 until I get a chance to take some more night time photos. The assignment for chapter 6 calls for you to try out the different scene modes of your camera so rather than do one I thought I'd work my way through them all.
The first one I tried is the Pet Portrait Mode. I happened to catch my cat this morning who's incredibly shy. I've attached the original frame along with a cropped version to highlight the sharpness of the shot.
Taken handheld with a Nikon D7000 and a Sigma 17-70mm lens:
Focal Length: 70mm (105mm in 35mm format)
Exposure Time: 1/60
F Number: f/4
White Balance: Auto
ISO: 1600
Exposure: 0

Second pet portrait shot I took was of the old dog. I don't catch him showing his teeth very often... or staying still for that matter as he's always trying to come over for a pat. This shot actually came out a bit darker than I expected. It's been brightened by 1/3 of an equivalent exposure. That was probably my fault for metering against the wall behind the dog instead of the dog's head and then locking the exposure down.
Taken handheld with a Nikon D7000 and a Sigma 17-70mm lens:
Focal Length: 55mm (82mm in 35mm format)
Exposure Time: 1/1000
F Number: f/4
White Balance: Auto
ISO: 800
Exposure: 0
