Hi all,

Just started having an interest in photography and picked up the exposure book as one of a few to start understanding photography better.  I'm afraid we don't have too many interesting buildings on the Gold Coast so I thought I'd choose something a little different.

The photos below are of a building that has been abused to the point of needing to be demolished.  However the owner refuses to do something with it for some reason.  Once upon a time, it was actually quite an attractive building.  I thought the overcast sky was appropriate for the mood.

Photos were taken with my wife's Panasonic Lumix FZ35 on full auto.

The second photo is the archway over the original entrance:

The last two are close ups of damage to the building on different structures.  Given I've no idea of what I'm doing I'd appreciate any feedback  Smiley

hiya golfer - the camera seems to meter with emphasis on the center of the frame (no big surprise i guess). the result is that the building behind you subject which is light color get washed out as i'm sure you noticed. i expect that as we get deeper into the book we'll learn how to deal with situations such as in your pic and expose the entire scene, um, better is not really the right word, but you get what i mean i'm sure.
