Here is one of my attempts at a unique perspective(I never realized until later that the camera wasn't quite level)http://www.flickr.com/photos/59043933@N02/5443585276/

It looks like you were sitting down and shoot up. Nice PoV. Like you said...the camera was tilted. I always view finder and look for vertical and horizon references. If you would have noticed the "chain" is should have given you a good reference...
Oh yeah maybe I should tell you a bit about the photo & what I was trying to accomplish. Camera:Canon 50D Shooting mode:AV Shuter speed: 1\500th AV:20 Evaluative Metering Focal Length:50mm WB:Daylight ISO:1000
I was laying down shooting up trying to give the illusion of height.I also used a long DOF so the houses and everything would be in focus& add to the illusion of height.I noticed after its not quite staight ,but I was probably tilted a bit to avoid being kicked.I used the high ISO to allow a fast enough shutter speed at that apeture. But I am always open to any comments for improvement.Oh enough of the other aspects were there so I adjusted the tone curve to brighten things a bit.
