I'm trying very hard to get the triangular light on 'the other cheek', and I think I somewhat succeeded today. Please let me know what you think...

I really like the light in the top picture, really beautiful. I think the bottom one may have too much shadow, but maybe it's just my preference.

I always find it so hard to get it right with the light from outside, will have to try hard for my Chapter 3 assignment Smiley

Same here  Smiley, but that's exactly why I didn't go for the reflexion or shadow, I really wanted to try and get this (a bit  Wink) right.

I think I would have turned their faces more toward the light so their eyes would catch the light coming in from the window.  The girl is absolutely stunning, but the boy looks like he has dead eyes as there is no catchlights.  It makes him look more like a mannequin, I think.  He's a handsome little guy though! I can tell he's a gentleman already!

Thanks for your insights! I think my little boy would love to hear he's a gentleman already (he's only 4  Wink). Just tried some more today (both with just the light, as with reflections, love to hear all your thoughts!

I gotta say, I love this last one, though it is a bit dark for my liking.  I love the expression, and that she's holding a camera!!  Kiss

ejb, beautiful pictures! I love this one with camera!!!
I have problem with "the triangular light" I just can't see it, even in the book, it isn't clear for me Sad
I think the first one is the best. I agree with NewMemories to turn the face more toward the light but it's easy to say when you see someone's else picture. I think the last one - the cheek is overexposed, the light is too strong?

Hi!  It is very exciting to see you really seeking quality light!  I'm really impressed.  It is the hardest thing to learn to see, as many have mentioned. So worth pursuing...that is what photography is ALL about!  It took me years to see, never mind reproduce!  Keep away from direct sun while you are doing this or you will get those harsh shadows.  Good luck and have fun!  Ginny Felch
