Title: Ch. 7 Assignment- Botanical Close-Ups Post by: Jimlock99 on February 13, 2013, 06:47:46 PM This one was tough to do in February, in CT, with 2 feet of snow on the ground. I finally settled on an interesting rock formation, so it's an intimate landscape shot anyway. What attracted me to this particular feature was the lines and edges of the rocks are somewhat parallel to each other, except for the far right edge. Then the snow and stone give a feeling of coldness. The major tones in the photo, gray, white, and blue go together nicely.
My second shot is at the same location, on another side, so this is my botanical close-up. I'm always fascinated by close-ups of living things, and I wanted to shoot the moss growing on the rock; the water drop happened to be a bonus. I especially like the smooth texture of the moss juxtaposed against the rough granite. And, of course, the tones of green and white make a nice contrast too. Comments and suggestions are welcome! |
