Post by: Sportyman140 on April 19, 2012, 08:17:20 AM
Hi all, name is Bill. I am from Ga and really have been getting into learning about Digital Photography. It has been fun. Been working with the Macro book, 2 lessons to go till finished with it. Also started the Lighting Book. Still learning and it is great that I am able to still do that :) .

Hi Bill - Welcome to the forum. How do you like the Macro Photography book? The macro book was about my 5th PWS book I got and I am down to the last two chapters. I really enjoyed this book and have learned a lot about photography from these PWS series book.

Hi, Judy, thanks for the welcome.!. I really like the macro book and enjoy it very much. I am now just trying to obtain a true macro lens uggggg...... $ are tough. I only have 2 chapters left. My daughter said she or my son said they would use their selves for the next chap. But this thing with Photoshop I am totally ignorant. I am in strange waters with this program. I only have a Beta program of the CS6. I wish I knew how to use it to work my photos better.

Yeah, I know what you mean about expense lens. The macro lens was my 1st expense lense, over $500. Still trying to get use to it, but I love it. I have CS5 for photoshop and I am still learning how to use the program. I use a book to help me learn and my kids they learn on their own, so if I get lost in the book - I go to them for help.

Well I have been using my canon EF S 55-250 mm with extension tubes of 13mm, 21mm, 31mm along with close up lens and sometimes a HD DSLR MC AF0.45X Macro lens attached. I have been looking at the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro. I did also find a wholesale site for digital cameras and accessories too, not too sure about ordering from there they are in China. I could get two or three lenses for the price of one from Canon.

What do extension tubes do for your camera? What I mean is what are their functions or added value for the camera? All I have on my camera is the lens.

Ok I took a couple of shots of my Lantana in  my frony garden. The one with the extenxion tubes along with a Macro AF0.45X lens added on was at 2-3 inches away and the one without was at 4-6 feet away. Camera Model Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XS
Shooting Mode Shutter-Priority AE,  Lens EF-S55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS....

Also it is very windy right now, so not the best work I can do.

Thanks for showing and explaining about the extension tubes. I think, I have a new toy to reach for my camera.  :)
