Photoworkshop Forum

I've been photographing kids/families pretty steady for about a year now.  I started reading Photographing Children because I'm always trying to learn and work on my photography technique/style.  I really enjoy outdoor photography and have included a picture of one of my favorite subjects.....my daughter!

I love the patina of the wooden barn as a backdrop, not to mention the wonderful pose of your daughter.  Nice look all the way around!!!

Great pose and lighting - a real warmth to this shot.  The textures in the fence are a nice touch but what do you think about that first plank of wood on the left?  It's darker than the rest of the fence with writing on it which I found a touch distracting.

This happens to be an old plantation in the area I live.  The building she is up against happens to be the oldest standing structure in the city.  Yes the furthest piece of wood is dark and carved on, which I didn't really notice until post process.  I think it ads a little something to the photo, but I can see where some may find it distracting.

Another nice shot.  It looks like you've got some great places to take some photos of people where you live. 

Great pose and a very natural smile.  My only comment here would be that the fence isn't quite vertical - it looks like it may need a very slight clockwise rotation.

You look like you've got the art of photographing families down very well :)

Another great shot.......you've captured the beauty of your daughter along with the warmth of the wood. The two complement each other well.  Keep up the good work!!!!

Regarding the 1st (horizontal) shot above, I personally like the carving in the wood---it gives the portrait a rustic feel and some character.  Just me......
