Title: Chapter1 - Authentic Expression
Post by: shamrock on January 21, 2012, 12:41:41 PM
Hey guys,
Here goes nothing.  My nerves are shot as I post this but this is how we get better right?  I am new at this digital slr gig and appreciate any and all critiques and advice.  Thanks in advance.

Shaun

Looks great Shaun.  Very natural, nice textures in the overall photo for the B&W - Perhaps a bit too much shadow or vignetting on the left but overall a great composition and photo.

Well done!

Cheers,

Malcolm

thanks for the reply.  I see where the left sided darkness takes away from the subject.  Thanks again for your help.

Shaun, I think this looks great.  Good lighting and love the Black and White.  Keep it up.I'm just learning too, but what fun.  I will try to post a picture and will welcome feedback as well.  If no one critiques our photos how do we learn?

Valerie

I have to say that with this shot I'm very impressed.  Yes - an absolutely authentic expression but more impressive is that you've gotten the exposure right with the snow and your subject.  It's also very nicely sharp.  Well done!

Malcolm,  Thanks for the comments.  Sometimes the best shots happen when you're not trying so hard.  It was a fun day.  I was worried about the snow being white but it did seem to work out ok.  Thanks again.  You seem to know your stuff and I appreciate the advice.  Valerie
