Title: Assignment 2 - DOF and Selective Focus Post by: InspiringFotos on October 27, 2011, 09:47:54 AM Here is a picture taken of my youngest son in the park working on his class filming project. As you can see in this picture I was trying to focus on my son and the foreground of the trees are out of focus. This picture was taken with my Kodak Z712 IS Zoom Digital at f/4.8, 1/160 sec, ISO-64, 70 mm with the light source at daylight.
I would like to practice more short DOF that the focus is more on the subject and the background is out of focus. With my new camera, I think I will have more opportunities to practice DOF compare to the POS camera I practice using the various modes on the camera (i.e. sports, landscape, close-up, etc). You should be able to get a much better effect with your new Canon. It's something that I found with my old Panasonic Lumix. It's so much easier to shorten the DoF with the Nikon.
