Title: "Experiment with Backdrops," from "Portrait and Candid Photography," by Erin Man

Take a portrait using a fabric backdrop as a design element. Choose a favorite patterned shirt or dress, bring it to a fabric store and find a fabric that echos or contrasts the pattern in your subject's outfit. Naturally, you can be inventive and find fabrics (drapes, curtains, blankets, towels, etc.) that are already available to you.

I hit Wall Mark quite a bit. Have learned one thing about getting the cheapest material...! If you hang the cheapish material and than hang it on a white or real light background, your wall, and hit it with the lights it has a tendency to bleed through. So usually I'll get the next step up $$ on the fabric I get. Using a reflector(s) will also reduce the bleed through....  ::) -Jim-
