Title: Introduce Yourself Post by: goldcoastgolfer on October 22, 2011, 02:09:38 PM Hi all,
Just started reading Exposure and Photographing Children and so have started posting photos to the various photos. It seems fairly quiet around here at the moment so I thought I'd start a post to see who was around and introduce each other. So to get started, I'm Malcolm - from the Gold Coast, Australia. I've been writing a golf blog for a few years (in case you hadn't guessed from my forum name) but recently decided to organise all of the photos of my kids which has since kindled a little fire to take better photos of them. So here I am! The last few years my camera of choice has been various Nokia telephones but I've finally decided they're a bit limiting and that I needed to replace my old Nikon F60 that was gathering cobwebs. I'm now the proud owner of a Nikon D7000. Currently running with two lenses - a newly purchased Sigma 17-70mm 2.8-4 for the majority of my photos and my original Tokina 28-200mm 3.5-5.6 for times when i need a zoom, although I discovered yesterday has a little trouble auto focussing at full zoom. Hoping to get a prime lens for Christmas, and then will probably replace the Tokina with something a bit more capable and modern. Hoping to hear from everyone else that's lurking around here ;D Cheers, Malcolm Schulstad Title: Re: Introduce Yourself Post by: InspiringFotos on October 25, 2011, 01:51:22 PM Hi Everyone,
I just joined this Photo Workshop Forum this week. I have been reading these Photo Workshop books for a while. I enjoy reading these books and trying the assignments at the end of each chapter. I am Judy from Scottsdale, Arizona. I love taking pictures of the red rock mountains and beautiful blooming flowers in this state. What I am hoping to get out of this forum, is learning more about photography and improving my photography skills. I have been taken pictures since I was a child and my first camera was the One-Shot Polaroid camera then I had the Kodak cartridge cameras that took the 126 and 110 film. Later I had a Minolta 35mm with zoom. Once the digital camera came out, I had several Kodak cameras. The best digital Kodak camera I enjoyed was the Kodak Z712 IS. This year my dream came true to finally own a Canon camera with lens. Now with digital technology and more freedom to be creative on the camera, I want to learn more about photography and taking great pictures. Looking forward to buying a new camera with lens for myself for Christmas and learning everything I can to capture great moments of my kids growing up! I Already know Malcolm quite well, but looking forward to meeting everyone else and seeing what everyone comes up with! :) Title: Re: Introduce Yourself Post by: InspiringFotos on October 29, 2011, 07:14:26 PM Hi Allison, welcome to the forum.
I am Judy and joined the form last week. Been reading the Photo Workshop books for sometime now. I live in sunny Arizona, so I take a lot of landscape or botanical picture now that my children are all grown up. I still take their pictures, but they are not little children anymore. I just got myself a Canon EOS Rebel T1i in February, so I have been practicing with the manual setting, lens, and trying out some filter. Love my new camera. Looking forward to chat with you and see your photos. :) Title: Re: Introduce Yourself Post by: goldcoastgolfer on October 31, 2011, 12:45:10 PM 5449 members and only three of us introduce ourselves? Surely we can do better than this! :)

Kim Dormann Title: Re: Introduce Yourself Post by: goldcoastgolfer on November 14, 2011, 08:31:08 PM Welcome Kim! I've just finished the one on Photographing Children book and am halfway through Exposure. After that I've got Portrait and Candid Photography to get through so I'll be lurking in these forums for a while yet. The nature one is a book I'd like to read at some point.
Title: Re: Introduce Yourself Post by: InspiringFotos on November 15, 2011, 08:08:21 AM Hi Kim and Malcom,
Welcome Kim to the forum. I just bought the Nature Photography book about two weeks ago. Just started to read the book and going to do some of the assignment while I in Tucson this weekend. Looking forward in sharing and learning. Hi Malcom - The PWS books can be addictive. I own over 10 of these books, so we will get a chance to share and learn some more. I am on the 2nd chapter of the Exposure book, but I am still looking for a good architecture building to do my first assignment. Maybe I can find some cool architecture buildings down in Tucson for this assignment. Looking forward in sharing and learning with both of you. Title: Re: Introduce Yourself Post by: InspiringFotos on January 12, 2012, 09:48:40 AM Hi Malcom - I was out for a while because I had surgery in December, but I am back on now. I just need to catch up on the threads I missed while I was out and will be posting so more pictures next week (at these that is the game plan) :D. I see by your stars you have been very active. Well, I hoping to be very active once again.
Title: Re: Introduce Yourself Post by: goldcoastgolfer on January 13, 2012, 02:17:34 PM Glad to have you back! Hope you're all okay. I think there's been a Christmas rush with the books as there's been more activity here of late than over the last few months. I'm mostly on Cambridge in Colour these days but I check in here and got asked to help maintain the site - hence all the stars :)
Title: Re: Introduce Yourself Post by: SoCalGuy on February 19, 2012, 01:44:54 PM Hello all -
I am trying to learn to take good photographs in general and specifically black and white - I am currently shooting with a Canon SX-10 (which only has .jpg file format). If I become good enough at capturing images, I plan on upgrading to a dSLR so I can shoot and store images in raw file format. As I am nearing retirement age, I am considering starting a photography business, with a focus on travel and urban photography. Good excuse to see the world. :) I have enjoyed the Photo Workshop book and I will be adding to my library once I am through the Black & White book. I appreciate the feed back on my posts. Title: Re: Introduce Yourself Post by: Gregory Young on March 18, 2012, 07:22:00 PM Hi to you all.
I was some time back a member of the Photoworkshop community and I must say I have really missed the people, connection and the friendship of its members. So I have come back and very keen to get restarted. The whole site has changed so I have to get up to speed on that side of things, but I'm looking forward to being apart of it once more ;D Cheers Greg Title: Re: Introduce Yourself Post by: InspiringFotos on April 12, 2012, 11:07:44 AM Welcome back Greg - looking forward to reading your posts and seeing your work. :)
