I think you got the depth of field down. I like the 2nd pictures of Tyler peaking over the wall. What type of camera are you using and what is the metadata for the 2nd picture? I am still reading this chapter, but I want to focus a little more on the short DOF by having my f-stop be in the f/2.8 - f/1.4 range . I notice in my pictures that my f-stop is usually around f/5.6 which seems to be the normal range.

Thanks.  Sometimes I doubt my technical ability.
I have a Nikon D7000 now.  I believe I just captured him spur of the moment just by being relatively close and zooming in with a 18-200mm lens  using my other camera which is a Nikon D40.

Those are the shots I like to capture (spur of moment or nature candid shot). I think if you can get their natural moods and not try posing the person for a mood, you get better results.

That's a great second shot - really drawn to Tyler's eyes before you take in the detail of the rest of the photo.
