I was particularly pleased with the highlights on the man's hair, and with the way spot-metering for his face left his profile cut out against the overexposed sunlit pond.

[/quote] This will work. I would have darken the frontal area, i.e., burning or increasing the contrast. Also, I tweaked the colour balance (shock-horror, realised I had left it on 'fluo' from some previous shots in the kitchen)
