Title: New To Photography and Photoworkshop... Pointers? Post by: NascarArcher on May 16, 2011, 06:54:05 PM Hello Photworkshop community!
My name is Ethan, and I am (pretty much) brand new to photography. I have my parents old camera, a Cannon Digital Rebel EOS 300-D. I have been interested in photography for a long time now, but never really had the opportunity to get involved. I am mostly interested in learning how to improve my automotive photography skills, and just general ability. So I was hoping to get some feedback and constructive criticism on my photos! I have taken a few shots of my Honda Pilot... Pointers? Post by: pstivers on May 19, 2011, 03:10:41 PM Hey Ethan. Welcome to photography and PSW. I'm kind of new here too and am figuring out how to navigate the site. I looked at the photos of your car. My first impression was that you're off to a good start in being able to narrow down your photographic focus. It should be a lot easier to build on that. I can't comment on automotive photography because its not an interest of mine. But in looking at yours I was thinking of ways that may benefit the photo. If you can find a way; be it angles, lighting, or composition; to bring attitude or emotion to an inanimate object (in this case, the car), then you'd make it a much more striking subject. For intstance: photos of the rear taillights may look more energetic if you had the brake lights on, or have less or more even shadows in the engine compartment. Keep in mind, these are just suggestions. But good luck. I look forward to seeing more.

Maybe next time :) |
