Title: Chapter 1 Finding my style Post by: jworkman on January 29, 2011, 01:43:55 PM I have been trying my hand at portrait photography for the last few years. I have never been paid a bigger compliment than someone saying that they saw a picture and they knew that it was mine! I think that for the most part I like to capture interactions between people or their environment. I have a tendancy to shoot too many tight crops and need to remind myself to mix it up and pan out. Here are a couple favs. Jennifer

The second one is nice, but would have been greatly improved if you would have managed to keep out the 'clutter' in the right upper corner, love the idea and expression though!
Title: Re: Chapter 1 Finding my style Post by: elaine on February 03, 2011, 02:15:53 AM the first one is really lovely very natural and a beautiful subject. I agree the second one could do without the background clutter and upping the colour contrast may make it pop more :)

I would have panned back a tad to get all the boy's head in though.

I like "the eyes have it" more, is it natural picture or did you "fix" the eyes in some program? i'm not a big fan of posing for photos, but I like this picture. "Helping with the Lights" - I love his expressions, joyful picture! cut hand and distracting background bother me a little bit :) Title: Re: Chapter 1 Finding my style Post by: LittleOne on March 19, 2011, 07:29:41 PM I love them both (and the others on your photostream! I peeked :) ) I agree that the 2nd one has the distraction in the background and removing that would improve it. Plus, it seems to be a little washed out. Other than that, GREAT job!
