By Isachsen (2007-07-30 12:22:13 ): I think this is one of the better anti-war picture I have seen in a long time. One doesn't need explosions, this silly hero stuff, flag waving, soldiers, combat and all the destruction to conevy a message. The most brilliant sentence I have read about the madness the greedy war mongers created in Iraq was from a jounalist in the British newspaper the Guardian: "This war is not worth ONE child's finger!" Do many people really care about the fact that Arab children in the hundreds are dying and getting injured and screwed up for life every month just so certain politicians can get a bloody victory?
By DougWilkening (2007-07-29 11:39:11 ): This is a stuning image, but, as already said below, it does not effectively tell the story that you say you want to tell. Perhaps if the background child were replaced by a faded-out partial image of soldiers in combat, that might do it. You can probably get combat photos from one of the stock agencies.

By chomaee (2007-07-28 18:52:22 ): Very Lovely photo. Colors are wonderful
By GailV (2007-07-28 18:06:35 ): Twins from Iraq? I'm not sure what your artistic treatment is meant to convey. I think the subject has great potential to move and instruct, but I think you should try several different ways to tell your story as this version isn't quite complete.

By Jim915 (2007-07-28 12:09:46 ): John, I really like this. Your PS work is terrific. But the individual images you use are very well executed. Your lighting is beautiful and enhances the visual impact of the image.
By Isachsen (2007-07-28 07:25:26 ): A picture that makes me think very hard. It has that mystic quality, but also a very positive message in a modern world, which still is so sadly distorted by religious fanatics - on all sides, in all camps - where "kick ass" in the name of religion is seen as the only solution. Will humankind ever learn? John, what a lovely image!
By Akitka (2007-07-28 07:06:54 ): it's a wonderful photograph, perfectly arranged. the children's faces are so serious, they might have seen so much in their lives.
