Photographer's Comment: Practically the first shot I made with a modest Olympus 3030Z back in 2004. Macro setting, spot metering, ISO 100, TIFF mode (which the camera allows-nice feature to preserve color and detail). I used a monopod to steady the camera and this allowed a low ISO speed and less pixel noise in the shadows.

By bongskitomynzal (2008-01-10 04:19:12 ): Right, Jan! I'm no biologist or horticulturist, either, but orchids take very little nourishment from the tree bark they cling to. Many are aerial, living on the moisture and air in the tropics here.
By Isachsen (2007-08-31 11:52:00 ): The vivid capture of the flowers is so cool. It also looks like they grow out from the bark. I am an idiot when it comes to biology (and much other stuff too) but I bet that the flowers are not part of this tree, right?
