Photographer's Comment: The barbed wire atop the cliffs at Pointe Du Hoc, Normandy. This was the final obstacle that U.S. Rangers had to surmount before taking this German position.

Rusted barbed wire is always for me a sign of oppression, death and destruction. The composition is very good - by going from soft up front and hitting focus in the middle of the barbed wire mesh. You have told the story of so much suffering in one image- and in a very effective way. Very well done!
