Photographer's Comment: An old shed not far from my home. The graffiti seemed to go along with the state of the building and the other-worldly lighting. Comments/Critiques welcomed!

By Jim915 (2008-08-06 01:09:47 ): Thanks Arlen. I thought it was PhotoMatrix after you told me about the tone mapping. I've seen some demos of the software and just couldn't remember the name. I don't do HDR right now but will take you up on the offer if I get into it.
By HangGlider (2008-08-05 02:00:19 ): Bernard, I see what you mean - I like your crop better than mine. Thanks for tip and the critique!
By HangGlider (2008-08-05 01:58:26 ): Jim, I used PhotoMatix Pro, then sharpened and converted to JPEG in PS. If you decide to try Photomatix Pro I'd be happy to share what I know about it.
By Bernard (2008-08-05 01:51:15 ): I think the strong center of interest is inside the open doorway. The subject matter to the left, while interesting, pulls your eye away and weakens anotherwise beautiful and colorful photo. Bernard
By Jim915 (2008-08-05 01:44:57 ): Hi Arlen - Thanks for the info on the tone-mapping. I have done a little HDR via PS but I've seen it done with other software as well. Which software did you use?
By HangGlider (2008-08-05 01:18:32 ): Thanks for looking and commenting David - I appreciate you taking the time to comment.
By HangGlider (2008-08-05 01:17:48 ): Thanks Tony! Glad you like the image. It's not really my style - it's a little over-baked, but it fit the 'Krazed' graffiti scrawl.
By HangGlider (2008-08-05 01:16:30 ): Thanks for the comments Warren - they are thought provoking! I appreciate it!
By HangGlider (2008-08-05 01:15:12 ): Hi Jim,
Thanks for taking the time to look and offer your critique! I agree re: the crop. I think I'll re-shoot this since it's within 5 minutes of home. The colors were not the result of filters, but are instead the result of multiple tone-mapping sequences in the HDR software. Again, I appreciate your comments.
By Jim915 (2008-08-05 00:46:13 ): I like the light. The POV is also good. The colors look highly manipulated probably via a filter(s) of some type. This isn't a personal favorite but a lot of people like this. The main thing I would critize is the crop. It is awkward. The can at the lower edge needs to be complete and I'd like to see the complete doorway
By KF4sign (2008-08-04 22:41:16 ): I am drawn to this in part (I think) because the color and tone causes what would otherwise be insignificant detail to become something which really draws my eye and creates an out of proportion sense of importance. - Warren
By mahowel (2008-08-04 22:28:02 ): VERY COOL!! I don't know what treatment you used on this photo but it works perfectly. Very well done!
By davidiverson (2008-08-04 20:30:14 ): Wow! Really nice horizontal and vertical lines, combined with great colors!
By HangGlider (2008-08-04 17:10:39 ): Hi John! Only used PhotoShop to sharpen, and convert to JPEG. Thanks for taking the time to leave comments!
By johnwillems (2008-08-04 15:40:38 ): On the first view it likes a nice image but I think that You has used to much a photoshop filters. You has loosen a certain deft in these photograph. The colours are great. John.
