How cool would it be to be sitting there? Rachael's crop is very nice too. I just think it has a more commercial feel to it and there is nothing wrong with that. I guess the neat thing is that you can do it either way and it still is a great photo.

It gives a good idea of what it was really like. I dont think personally that you need to see the expressions on the faces as you can pretty much tell what each person is doing, you can see the guy taking orders, the cook behind doing his thing, love the four people at the table and it shows just enough of the interior for the viewers imagination. I also like the street texture, enough detail there to tell it's cobblestone. Also the car adds for me, gives a better sense of place and busyness and how close the table is to the cars. The colors are great and exposure is right on. Also like the three partial windows at the top. If everyone "obeyed" all the "rules" all the time, it would be a very boring world indeed. I like it, kudos and nice job!

To get a clear picture you would need a tripod, or if you kick up the ISO high enough to get the right exposure, you will get a lot of noise. Why not cross the street? There are enough tourists in Bodrum that the guys there probably wouldn't bat an eyelash to your sticking a camera into their dinner! They'd probably welcome you to a kebab... and ask you to email copies of the pictures when you get home.

By robertb (2008-06-06 11:13:10 ): Thanks Rachael. I do agree about the crop. It was a busy street - so going closer was not a safe option. I could have used more telephoto though.
By rachael (2008-06-06 05:22:46 ): Nice night shot, but how would it have been much closer so that you could see faces and food, perhaps a little detail of the interior? Or maybe a slice of the texture of the road? By cropping, quality will suffer: that's why you need to get close. The half car also detracts -- losing it means you lose part of the sign but do you really nedd it all?
