Photographer's Comment: I just listened to a podcast by Brooks Jensen, who helms the portfolio magazine of black and white photographers, titled, "Lenswork". Jensen's 2004 podcast #LW0028, available through iTunes, bears the title, "Photography Is Not About Light", and says that for a photographer/visual artist to say that imagery is all about the light "is like saying novel writing is about words, or that poetry is about fonts, or music is about notes". I thought it worth reconsidering the oft-given phrase, since I've given it, myself.
