Photographer's Comment: My favorite alley...ps work consists of a Lucis Art wyeth filter of appx 60, surface blur, curves to boost the darks and some selective masking on each layer. This was actually an accidental discovery, I was laying down trying to get a low angle on the stairs while maintaining some texture in the street, wasn't looking through the viewfinder and caught my leg in the shot....then went hmmmm.....tried a few more shots to get it the way I wanted and this was the result.

By Isachsen (2008-06-03 11:40:20 ): Pehaps you should give your boots a shine before next shooting (he, he). No, I mean this is an excellent image. It reminds me of a similar scene I saw at an old shipyard back in Oslo a few deceades ago. Memories!!!!! Extremely cool job Carl.

By efujii (2008-06-02 06:26:42 ): Very creative Carl. Love the composition and the blur effect. From the angle of the leg, it must have been very uncomfortable.

By whitewavesPTP (2008-06-01 16:47:54 ): Your lucky to have such a nice alley. The brick, the texture of the cement, the light and of course the blues all working together. Good Work!
By ktapio (2008-06-01 15:08:40 ): Here and this what makes this site particularly great. When we see art like this pushing the image one more push to the better Carl you reached out there again Nice accident. katia
By EnterVortex (2008-06-01 15:00:40 ): Whooaa! I scanned the thumbnails and saw the leg and boot. My first thought was this was a Smokeydawg original. Great image! You totally met the assignment of highlighting the concrete texture, added a story and then blew the lid off with color.
By Scepter (2008-06-01 14:15:52 ): Dead on Arrival, huh? Well, at least there's no blood (bloodstains are a bitch to wash out). Fire escapes are killers. Clever.
By CJGroth (2008-06-01 11:33:32 ): Hi Carl ...this is great, love the colors, contrast and the deep blacks. I wish the photo wasn't cut so much in half. I think you're onto something here, though, as the idea and perspective are spot on.
By somagni (2008-06-01 11:12:21 ): I really love the colors in this - so rich. Great DOF - my eye goes to the ladders propped up there on the wall and keeps my attention - I like the relationship it creates with leg, ending with the blue color that begins with the jeans.
By jimdstearns (2008-06-01 06:22:30 ): Nice work Carl, good eye. I like the process and lighting to bring out the texture. You got a little leg while snapping... :o)
By johnwillems (2008-06-01 01:53:09 ): "Gold" for these beautifull image. Great! John.
