By LindaJames (2008-05-20 23:58:34 ): Beautiful work, the composition is flawless. Excellent!
By smokeydawg (2008-05-20 19:59:43 ): Thanks Eduardo, I really appreciate the feedback. I tried them all even and it just didn't feel right to me. Think Wayne was right about the positioning of the buds at least that was my thought process as well after seeing them all aligned. I havn't tried bw or sepia on it though, and may very well try that just to see it! Carl
By smokeydawg (2008-05-20 19:56:28 ): Thank you Bill, think this was the best $7.50 I've spent in a while for the plant. It solved the topic this week plus all the other images I should be able to get out of it while it's blooming, plus it will be here next year. Wish I could get that much out off 7.50 in gas these days! LoL Carl
By smokeydawg (2008-05-20 19:53:25 ): Thanks Warren, always appreciate your feedback, glad you liked it. Guess it was worth the $7.50 for the plant, saw it at a garden center and what popped into my head was the fact I could easily get 7.50 worth of images out of it plus the topic this week. grin Carl
By NowYesNow (2008-05-20 18:43:21 ): the only way I'd DARE even up the borders of each panel would be to Extend them, since those blossoms are Beautifully aligned with each other as they are; if each panel were simply shifted into alignment, it would destroy that interaction.
By efujii (2008-05-20 17:42:16 ): Carl, you hit it big this time. This is gorgeous. The composition and colors are fantastic. This is a real work of art. I wonder what they would look in B&W or sepia. I like the montage and the border in the same color as the flower but I would rather see them aligned though. 5 in all categories.
By EnterVortex (2008-05-20 15:06:33 ): Carl, great image! It stands out as very appealing even as a thumbnail. It is a darn pleasing set up. Wow!
By KF4sign (2008-05-20 13:47:16 ): Absolutly beautiful. The arrangement of the images is interesting. I look at the two "full" pictures of the blossoms and compare it with the center image which requires to be looked at in a different way because they are parts of the whole and not the same kind of full image. Wonderful individual images and a fascinating extra when presented together. - Warren
By smokeydawg (2008-05-20 12:36:51 ): Thanks Wayne, LoL no need for bowing. I very much appreciate your in depth feedback not just on my images but others also. I learn a lot from them. As far as the colors, I used Carlos' channel thing for subdoing the greens but used RGB instead of one color, along with a small sat adj. I liked the center image being split myself and as far as rising the center, every trip I see almost has the same size images all the way across which to me I just wanted something a little different. Comes from designing a lot of wedding album layouts which has gotten really competitive in the last few years. I am trying to add some "fine art" images to what I sell with upscale interiors in mind. Maybe I'm wrong, but think there is a market there. I know, the commercial me is showing through. :o Carl
By smokeydawg (2008-05-20 12:23:15 ): Thanks Julie, glad you like the presentation! When I first came here I had no idea what a triptych was. Carl
By smokeydawg (2008-05-20 12:22:17 ): Thanks CJ, I just enjoy flower images. Carl
By smokeydawg (2008-05-20 12:15:18 ): Thanks Carlos, glad you like it. I know these are way overdone, but wanted to try something just a bit different. Carl
By ktapio (2008-05-20 11:13:26 ): Oh yes, agree with Wayne… katia
By NowYesNow (2008-05-20 08:11:36 ): Beautifully sensitive arrangement and juxtaposition of lines, shapes, sizes and colors. Interesting innovation to give the larger center one a little rise, along with the blossom size in the frame. I know the colors of callas, and you've done a nice job subduing the greens so that the reds dominate, without turning their impact to gaudy "pop". The blossoms have a steady vibrant rich translucence that keeps them fresh looking without becoming visually tiresome. I also like the use of the foreground leaf, in that center image... also innovative, as opposed to the usual convention of featuring the blossom "up front". I could so Easily see this trio as a set of three separate images (complete with red borders) hung as a wall grouping in an upscale interior design. Really Fine triptych, Carl! (Bowing, here).
By CJGroth (2008-05-20 02:51:03 ): Carl, this is a very nice triptych, each picture showing a different view of the calla lily and all so beautiful. P.S. I can see the frame on all of them.
By karmal (2008-05-20 02:12:39 ): Very nice Carl. One of my favourite triptychs. For its simplicity, color combination and design.
Carlos
By smokeydawg (2008-05-20 02:04:30 ): Thanks Katia. Not intentional and not sure what heppend, must be the size thing of the smaller view, as the larger view has the full frame. Appreciate your kind words! Carl
By ktapio (2008-05-20 01:32:41 ): Carl this is Breath taking. Dose this count as a critique?
Just a small thing the center has one side of the frame missing is it intentional?
katia
