Stop Action 2

Photographer's Comment: Not quite as spicy as the other duck shot, but liked it all the same, especially given I accidentally shot a bunch of shots at iso 1250. The exposure should have been my first clue, but duh, sometimes I'm slow to catch on.

By smokeydawg (2008-05-16 01:07:08 ): Thanks Bill. LoL, I think the people standing just down from me thought I was nuts going "come on, go into the light" :) Carl

By EnterVortex (2008-05-15 22:09:00 ): I'm still trying to catch my breath after looking at your first duck image. But this one is also good. I like the backlighting and light going through the duck wing. It is like there is a properly lit spotlight right on the duck. Good job coaxing him to the right spot. The feather structure and symmetry is amazing and it is shown well here.

By littlepeanut (2008-05-15 13:30:05 ): I've done that before with the ISO. Very handsome duck you've found here. Great stop action.

By smokeydawg (2008-05-15 12:53:40 ): Thanks Jim! Carl

By smokeydawg (2008-05-15 12:53:04 ): Thank you Steve. His red head and that red eye are what attracted me to him. LoL I kept mentally "coaxing" him into the area with the light coming in between the tree branches. Usually they don't listen to me. :) Carl

By jimdstearns (2008-05-15 11:05:44 ): Good stop action

By smyers11 (2008-05-15 02:57:29 ): i like this, the darkness in the water, the duck frozen as it starts to fly. works well for me! the red head is stopped in time!

By bansheefast (2008-05-14 23:58:04 ): Looks like this duck is jumping for joy. The muscles on his back caught my eye.

By smokeydawg (2008-05-14 23:21:44 ): Thanks Jan, I started to say both topics, but wasn't sure anyone else would notice the sense of motion, so thanks for noticing! :) Carl

By Isachsen (2008-05-14 20:13:03 ): Nice stop action, but also a great sense of motion here Carl.

By smokeydawg (2008-05-14 19:58:16 ): Thanks Dorothy, I like this one better myself. Carl

By smokeydawg (2008-05-14 19:56:37 ): Thanks Carlos, always appreciate your comments! Carl

By whitewavesPTP (2008-05-14 13:55:08 ): I like this one. The water color is amazing and that red eye, it's the first thing I saw when I opened the photo.

By Auryn (2008-05-14 13:22:04 ): I like this one better I think because of the colors. I love the softness of the duck's head and all the beautiful texture in the wings. I like the light and shadows under the wing. I also like the darkness of the water, it lends to a bit of a mysterious feel and I think it works well with the underneath of the duck's wing casting nice shadows and tone to the feathers.

By karmal (2008-05-14 03:34:12 ): Hi Carl. I like both of your "ducks" shots. I like the water blue color in the other. But this one is my favourite. Because of the mood and light. The hypnotic crisp red eye is a stong point that captures the viewer's attention almost instantaneously when you open the thumbnail. Carlos
