Stop Action - Lucky Duck

Photographer's Comment: Was out with Granddaughter this morning at "Old McDonalds Farm" a kids petting zoo in a park not far from me. They also have this area with ducks and while we were checking out the ducks, this guy was checking something else out. :) Couldn't resist.

By smokeydawg (2008-05-16 01:04:48 ): Thanks Bill, I loved their expressions! Carl

By EnterVortex (2008-05-15 21:48:19 ): Attaway Carl!! Great shot. Colors are hypnotic. I was studying his technique and realized he must have a soft touch because they are not sinking in the water. Whooaa!! It is hard to tell what is a wing feather or back feather and I can't even see his little duck feet. Like others said, both have such cool looks on their faces. Great catch.

By smokeydawg (2008-05-13 22:14:20 ): LOL CJ, great idea, think I will! Thanks! Carl

By CJGroth (2008-05-13 16:01:29 ): Carl ... you should call this one LUCKY DUCK (grin)

By smokeydawg (2008-05-13 12:54:58 ): Thanks Linda! I love the look on his face myself, glad it made you laugh. Carl

By LindaJames (2008-05-13 04:04:47 ): Brilliant capture, what a great look on his face. Technically it's wonderfully done and his feathers are beautiful. Thanks for the laugh, Carl!

By smokeydawg (2008-05-13 01:04:02 ): Thanks Frank! It was definately a case or timing, etc...even the choice of lens I brought with me. I don't usually have the 70-200 on the camera when out with my granddaughter, it just kind of said "bring me today" Carl

By smokeydawg (2008-05-13 00:57:36 ): Thanks Steph. LoL I had to laugh about your comment "he looks like it's his birthday" I shot a burst of this and that "look" is what I really liked about this one. Carl

By Scepter (2008-05-13 00:19:54 ): Another fine example of the right place, at the right time and in the right mood. Good grab.

By GuitarGodsWife (2008-05-12 13:37:56 ): Hey! Dirty ducks! lol. You definitely froze their expressions well. She's seems to say "whatever" and he looks like it's his birthday. This one made me laugh.

By smokeydawg (2008-05-12 12:07:31 ): Thanks Jan, I couldn't resist this one. And it happened in a family petting zoo. :) Carl

By smokeydawg (2008-05-12 12:06:49 ): Thanks Paget, Yup, its in a petting zoo, although you can't pet the ducks. Carl

By Isachsen (2008-05-12 09:10:43 ): Hey, don't you know that this is a freaking family site (he, he)?! An excellent capture of "cold" love!

By littlepeanut (2008-05-12 02:03:57 ): Are you sure this was at a kids' petting zoo? This is for sure rated X. Thanks for the laugh!

By smokeydawg (2008-05-12 01:53:59 ): LoL thanks CJ, glad you like it! I was actually shooting him by himself then well I guess love just called. Had the focus on him so shot a burst of this, ummm mating ritual. Liked this one because like you say, he just seems to have that look in his eye! I was just glad I didn't have to explain the situation to my granddaughter, too young still, phew! Carl

By CJGroth (2008-05-12 01:07:05 ): OMG Carl, this is the greatest stop action photo! She appears so calm and he has that glazed look in his eye. What can I say, you're a bad boy. Actually it's fabulously exposed and sharp. Great job.
