Motion1

Photographer's Comment: From Wedding yesterday, this had to have been one of the longest Minister talks I've seen, Almost 15 minutes of them standing up while he was talking and talking and talking.... So I got bored and started playing. Even the video guy was getting bored. Zoomed the lens with long shutter speed while on tripod. It does say we can suggest motion in some other way.

By Clare (2008-05-15 13:32:18 ): This is soooooo cool!!!! I feel like I traveled in warp speed through time to witness the beginning of a new life for the 2 people getting married. Fantastic shot.

By smokeydawg (2008-05-15 12:48:18 ): Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment Penelope, glad you like it! Carl

By PenBon (2008-05-15 02:43:41 ): When I first looked at this, I thought it was the light on top of a squad car. It's an even better shot knowing what it is. Very nicely done.

By smokeydawg (2008-05-14 13:40:56 ): Hmmmmm, now that you mention it, I can see it too. Didn't notice that before, thanks for pointing it out CJ! Carl

By CJGroth (2008-05-14 12:37:53 ): Hi Carl -- Well, not to go down the religious road, but it is in a Christian church so .... I noticed the thumbnail looks EXACTLY like that one painting of Christ when he's got his hands out. The altar background would be his halo. (Is this kinda like seeing him in a slice of toast?)

By smokeydawg (2008-05-13 22:18:15 ): Thanks a bunch Steve! It does make a difference in the final appearance, think this was zoomed in. Carl

By smokeydawg (2008-05-13 22:16:16 ): Thank you Linda! Carl

By LindaJames (2008-05-13 18:10:40 ): Wow, cool shot. This worked so well, how nice to take a moment of boredom and change it into a very creative moment.

By Darguza (2008-05-13 13:27:06 ): Nicely done. One of my favorites so far. I sometimes get this same view in my head at boring events. Would it matter if you zoomed in or out to get the same effect? Just curious. Steve...

By smokeydawg (2008-05-13 01:39:03 ): Thanks Frank. LoL about the innocents! Kind of thought the chuch lights ended up looking like lightning bolts also. grin I'm sure they will get their share of "lightning bolts" thrown at them. Carl

By smokeydawg (2008-05-13 01:35:51 ): Thanks Dorothy! I always appreciate your comments! Carl

By Scepter (2008-05-13 00:25:04 ): Ye Gods! It looks like there's lightning bolts being tossed at the bride and groom. A battle of titans. Old gods versus new. And, of course, it's the poor innocents come to a celebrate a happy day who'll suffer for it. lol... Cool shot. Kinetic.

By whitewavesPTP (2008-05-12 13:06:37 ): Way cool Carl. Lots of motion here.

By smokeydawg (2008-05-12 11:55:29 ): Thanks Paget! Carl

By smokeydawg (2008-05-12 11:52:57 ): Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment Michael! Carl

By smokeydawg (2008-05-12 11:50:54 ): Thank you Jan! Carl

By smokeydawg (2008-05-12 11:50:29 ): Thanks CJ! Appreciate you taking a look. Carl

By smokeydawg (2008-05-12 11:45:11 ): Thanks Atle! Carl

By Atle (2008-05-12 11:35:02 ): In Norway we call the main hall in the church for the ship. Looking at your image I’m thinking space ship. Good take on the assignment and yes; it is motion. Well-done Carl! ☺

By CJGroth (2008-05-12 10:18:25 ): Wow, Carl, what an interesting photo. When I first looked at it, I didn't see the bride and groom and cross, thought it was an interesting abstraction of a tunnel. But now I can clearly see the scene (ok, not so clearly, but you know what I mean!). It's very good, symbolic in many ways. I particularly like the bride's train which seems to extend for the entire picture. C.J.

By Isachsen (2008-05-12 09:06:00 ): Carl, this so incredibly cool. I hope you include it in the wedding album (grin). It tells me many stories - something about being sucked into the future, or what happens to us "greedy humans" if we don't shape up and start thinking about our environment. We are in the "Eleventh Hour", and shit has already started to hit the fan. Sticking a finger or two into that electric fan will be nothing compared to what is awaiting us if we ALL don't start putting more pressure on the political "suits" to turn the large "corporate" ships around for a better future. Maybe start thinking about the small children born now - what future societies they will be living in - all the unrest, incredibly ugly and dirty global wars that will be the result of people starving and die due to cliamet change and the fight for raw materials. What hardship our generation's children very well could end up having to live with thanks to us so selfishly have been burning off the good stuff now over the past few decades. That is one of the things I think of when looking at this phto Carl. A very engaging photo!

By sonoranhawk (2008-05-12 02:35:55 ): Way cool, Carl. Looks like you're screaming down a tunnel, maybe a subway.

By littlepeanut (2008-05-12 02:02:11 ): Love your story along with the picture. I can almost picture the bored photographer sitting at the back of the church playing with his camera. LOL. Quite unique!

By smokeydawg (2008-05-12 01:42:19 ): Wow, thanks Eduardo! That means a lot comming from you! They had actually requested something a little different on the ceremony shots, wasn't sure what I was going to do, then the minister kept going and going, anyway thought about the assignment and this came to mind, good things sometimes happen as a result of boredom. :) Carl

By smokeydawg (2008-05-12 01:38:37 ): Thanks Steph, like I say was getting bored with his "speech" thought about the assignment and started playing! Carl

By smokeydawg (2008-05-12 01:34:07 ): Thanks Julie, appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment! Carl

By efujii (2008-05-12 00:31:08 ): Wow Carl, this is the kind of image that inspires me. Everything works for me, the composition, colors, symmetry, perspective, not to mention originality. I love the colors and how they all blend together. 5s in all categories. Bravissimo.

By GuitarGodsWife (2008-05-11 22:29:10 ): Carl, I really love how this came out. Looks like all those folks are on a fast track to Heaven! ;-)
