Photographer's Comment: I know, vampires don't cast reflections, or is that just a myth! grin Or is it all just a journey beyond the surface of what we believe. I think my propensity for dark images is because it is the exact opposite of weddings. Plus it's fun to let your mind wonder into its dark crevices every once in a while. This was fun!

By EnterVortex (2008-05-02 05:14:22 ): Oh yes, I looked at your self portrait photo = Congratulations! Great job.
By EnterVortex (2008-05-02 05:13:01 ): Carl, the way I read this photo - the vampire lady has the razor blade up against the mirror images throat for an easy cut. Unreal - I just looked at the image again and appreciated the mirror reflection more. It is cool the way you place the models as if they are crawling. It makes it so much spookier. Even the hand placement is great. Finally, I like the way you lit the photo -- Aaarrggghhh!! Well done.
By MicheleMiller (2008-05-01 21:56:32 ): Lots of time went into this..well worth it!
By maureenyoung52 (2008-05-01 14:49:39 ): Great shot Carl! Love the duo tone also. Maybe paint back in the red mouth.

By bjsnow (2008-04-30 07:38:57 ): Carl, great shot. You have put in a lot of time and effort on this assignment. It really shows. Did you do the art work on her face as well? Looks great, Well done. Brent
By smokeydawg (2008-04-30 01:57:17 ): Thanks Carlos! LoL, well no bites on the neck, but it was

By karmal (2008-04-30 01:34:30 ): I love your gothic pictures and this one is a fine and creative addition to the collection. Not only it has a strong emotional appeal but also an excellent technical quality. I also admire your expertise as a model's director. And hope you had a little bite in your neck.
Carlos
By whitewavesPTP (2008-04-30 01:18:01 ): Just one more request - can we see it? Please.
By wilbs999 (2008-04-30 00:55:13 ): Certainly gothic, certainly dark, and very well done! The softness has a different feel in this photo - erethral. Must be a myth. The model is pretty good, too. Isn't it interesting - the same photograph without the makeup and the expression, could take on an entirely different feel. Very creative.
By LindaJames (2008-04-30 00:51:53 ): What a fun image, taking it just to the right edge. I love your comment about the vampires photos being the opposite of weddings. Excellent.
By smokeydawg (2008-04-30 00:30:28 ): Thanks for the toning suggestion Dorothy, I tried it and really like it! Carl
By smokeydawg (2008-04-30 00:29:51 ): Thanks Tanja! I always appreciate your feedback. LoL wish I did have a gothic or vampire wedding, would be a blast. But someone just booked a mid evil style wedding for July 09, so it should be fun!
By somagni (2008-04-29 23:39:17 ): You need to stage a vampire wedding! Great work, Carl. Great model too.
By smokeydawg (2008-04-29 23:26:48 ): Thanks for the kind words Joan!
By smokeydawg (2008-04-29 23:26:03 ): Thanks Stephanie! Carl
By smokeydawg (2008-04-29 23:25:40 ): Thanks Dorothy, I hadn't really thought of a duo tone on this, but not a bad idea, think I'll try it. Carl
By CamGram (2008-04-29 20:08:46 ): Carl, great image. Perfect example of why we shouldn't judge people by the way they look. There is always another side (nice smile...even with the teeth...and great mischievious eyes).
By GuitarGodsWife (2008-04-29 17:55:57 ): Looks like you had a ball with this one! Great image quality! Love the expression, tones and the reflection!
By whitewavesPTP (2008-04-29 17:42:40 ): A fantastic shot Carl. Love the fangs, but I have to agree, she does have kind eyes. I can't help but wonder how it would look in B&W or a duel tone of gray & blue??
By smokeydawg (2008-04-29 17:23:04 ): Thanks Jim, glad you like it! LoL I wonder about me also! grin
By smokeydawg (2008-04-29 17:21:33 ): Thanks CJ! Yup the reflection is real, Im not that good at ps. She was laying on a mirror and the teeth were glue on fangs from a local costume store. LoL she had a hard time getting them off when we were done.
By smokeydawg (2008-04-29 17:20:02 ): Thanks John, Well I think everyone has a bit of a dark side. :)
By smokeydawg (2008-04-29 17:19:13 ): Thanks Katia, yup you are right she really is a sweet girl.
By Jim915 (2008-04-29 16:35:55 ): Carl - This is just too terrific! Of all of your excellent vampire and spooky images, this has to be the best to date. Since you seem to be so good at this type of image, one is made to wonder about the real Carl. (grin) Seriously, this is excellent on so many levels Carl.
By CJGroth (2008-04-29 16:16:11 ): Oh my, Carl, this is too cool. The pointy teeth look absolutely reel and the razor is a nice touch. Is that a real reflection? This is a showstopper, that's for sure, and nicely shot. CJ
By johnwillems (2008-04-29 16:04:16 ): Great image Carl! I like the "dark side" of these woman? (hé Carl, women, has they really a dark side, you think?). John.
By ktapio (2008-04-29 14:05:41 ):
Oh Carl! You are looking for a darker side aren’t you? It is a very good expression of beyond the surface. You see there are many who try so hard to show the deep black side but unfortunately they do not have it. When the paint is washed the pure kind heart is there. The eyes give her away she is a nice person from the clear shot you have captured her kindness with in. great shot..
katia
