By smokeydawg (2008-04-23 23:40:19 ): Thanks Todd. You should try the frame thing, it's kind of fun to just play with it and see what you get. But be forewarned...people here either seem to love em or hate em. Carl

By smokeydawg (2008-04-23 23:38:54 ): Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment Paget! Carl

By smokeydawg (2008-04-23 23:38:11 ): Thanks Diana, appreciate the kind words!

By smokeydawg (2008-04-23 23:37:33 ): Thanks Warren. I did lighten that shadow just a bit and I like it better. Carl

By smokeydawg (2008-04-23 23:36:08 ): Thanks Maureen! The frame is just the main image enlarged, gaus blur of about 25 or 30, opac of about 50 on a brown bg. color sampled from trees in bg. Then 2 yellow strokes sampled from the horse, and a drop shadow. Carl

By littlepeanut (2008-04-19 01:01:03 ): this is beautiful. Composition is great, and I love the frame (I might play around with some different colors). Great editing work.

By dianasanzone (2008-04-18 23:28:55 ): Your works has been so rich and sensitive of late. This is beautiful.

By KF4sign (2008-04-18 20:05:57 ): Dreamland. Most reminiscent of a painting. I like the variability of tones. What would I change or do differently? (since this is the critique section) Probably nothing. But if you pressed me, As a trial I might lighten the shadow on the left side foreground grass. This is wonderful Carl. - Warren

By twadams (2008-04-18 15:23:30 ): I really like this Carl. The colors are beautiful and the fence in the background and the stance of the horse makes this a very peaceful and nostalgic photo to me. I love the frame around this as well and the way it is diffused and still incorporates the surrounding landscape. This is a great way to crop and still use the whole image frame. I keep telling myself that I should do this with my own images and seeing the way you have done it makes me WANT to. Thanks for the inspiration

By karmal (2008-04-18 14:28:07 ): I think you made a very good editing work with the soft feel, specially in the trees, and with the control of color within very beautiful yellows, browns and green. I like the bucolic and nostalgic mood created by the color palette. Maybe I would not frame the picture with the yellow and black rectangles, but keep the sepia frame. Of course, this is very subjective and honestly I never tried the effect so I don't know if it works. I just imagine. Carlos

By maureenyoung52 (2008-04-18 13:58:18 ): Wow! Nice shot and I love the frame also. How did you do that?
