Photographer's Comment: The set up for this still-life was in front of the window so I did fire the built in flash ISO 100 and the exposure was at f/5.6 this is one of few I do like tight crop but the full shot was nice too…

By lynnrider (2008-04-01 01:45:55 ): The lighting really plays up the vivid colors of the beadwork Katia. I like the softness of the background (the curtain?).
By ktapio (2008-03-31 19:07:19 ): Thanks Janith you are one of the rare ones that use the Jewel colors freely. katia
By ktapio (2008-03-31 19:03:29 ): Jan I am sure you have seen the colorful culture the Middle East have. We are people of color and appreciate deep colors we are not shy of there use. Not until I was at the University of Michigan as a young student not until then I realized the pastels and their effects over the American taste… the art education I had in Lebanon showed my culture and the European art which is rich in color. So that is why I have joy in every color and I love, and never shy of using it… katia
By janith (2008-03-31 18:38:13 ): Lively color and simple composition. I like what you've done here, Katia. Keep on exploring...
By Isachsen (2008-03-31 16:01:36 ): It is the color feast and the texture and patterns in the beads that make this so interesting. Very fresh and eye catching. Both the bead-work and the picture itself is art. with a mood that also works for me. But then I am also a dreamer (grin).
By ktapio (2008-03-31 04:38:19 ): Thanks for your time and comment… katia
By ktapio (2008-03-31 04:37:21 ): It is okay John I am not offended by this ladies concern over my images.. It is nice I was able to get her attention. She obviously is entitled to her opinion. One can not get to make every one happy. The surprise though is her wishes to know what cameras we use and all she needs to do is read all the info in the image data!!? So I take it that her interest is focused on the quality of the image only. I have no problem with that… I never claimed I am a great photographer or knew all the techniques there is… thank goodness for the other around members to learn from…

By Photolas (2008-03-30 22:57:43 ): Hi Katia.....I by no means meant my statements below to me anything harsh. I know that reading it may sound that way. I was just curious what camera you use and your lighting and meter readings on many of your images. I'm really only trying to help you with your lighting. Sometimes reading these posts it's hard to imagine how they were written when they are so direct.

By Photolas (2008-03-30 20:50:10 ): Excuse me ? I guess I'm missing the joke ?
By johnwillems (2008-03-30 20:45:06 ): I hope that Photolas is a little bit tired, I am already affraid!!!
By johnwillems (2008-03-30 20:39:27 ): Hello Katia?,... hmm,...
By Photolas (2008-03-30 20:31:00 ): I'm curious to know what kind of camera you shoot with ? I reviewed your bio page and many of the shots look as if they are just auto shots. Have you ever taken meter reading classes and learned how to manually shoot your camera....with and without flash ? Have you done a lot of studio lighting? Your outdoor shots are either too much contrast or washed out. I think it has to do with your meter readings. This image you entered shows that you have some light on a subject, but it doesn't look very sharp to me or really say much. The other image comes in closer but I still don't see what the photo is saying besides....I'm a bag with light on me.
By ktapio (2008-03-30 16:23:34 ): Thank you John you are very generous, yes, I did the art and the scarf… katia
