Photographer's Comment: Here's another one of my daughter taken a few days ago. Any comments or crop suggestions? By the way the white showing from underneath her dress is a white tank, I know it looks like a bra, and I tried to clone it but it wasn't so easy.

I suggest a slight head tilt, to the left of the frame increasing the fall of the hair and tightening the crop. I’m also a fan of a square crop.
Kodak has some very good basic books demonstrating the portrait lighting and head tilts.

By lynnrider (2008-03-16 01:18:26 ): Beautiful work Dawn! I like her position in the frame.
By dawnschubert (2008-03-15 15:08:02 ): Thanks Carl! I only took the other one off because the rules say one at a time right: ) anyway, yeah I will definately be more careful checking the viewfinder. I bought an action that I have been using to soften the skin. For this image I used a very low G blur which was 2% on the image, the other day where it was suggestion I tone it down I used 5%. I have been playing around with it trying to get a feel for my liking. I have been doing a defog/sharpening thing before I work the image as well. Thanks for taking the time to comment and leaving your suggestions. I would love to see some of your wedding shots, hope you get to post a few, have a great weekend!
By smokeydawg (2008-03-15 14:38:47 ): Very nice pose, and light. Only thing is the white you mentioned showing from underneath, train yourself to scan the viewfinder before you snap the shot for little things like that and you will save yourself a lot of cloning frustratiions. I also liked your last post of her sitting, leave those up a little longer, grin! On the facial treatments in ps, you using gaus blur? I like this one but know some out there will think it's overdone, which is all subjective anyway. If your using gaus blur, I usually do a 5 to 20% blur depending on the image, then just simply paint back the detail in the eyes, hair mouth etc. Like I say, this one I like! Sometimes I also sharpen then soften with g blur all depending on the indivdiual image. LoL just realized I'm kind of rambling here, gonna blame it on 8hrs of wedding shooting yesterday, brain is a little foggy this morn. :)
