Photographer's Comment: In our contemporary society it is important that children and teenagers have a hobby.
The young girls takes my attention because they were so serious.
Their serious face was my inspiration source to make these photograph.
The face of the young girls seems well on these of the horse: they looks such as their horse.
The horse found the beep of the camera interesting.
The light was beautiful.
I made this baroque photograph in a soft Hitchcock-style with the Canon EF 70-200mm 1:4L IS USM-lense.
On advise of Lynn and Bradley, I changed a little bit the earlier posted image and accentuated more the body of the horse. No flash was used

By Jim915 (2008-02-09 00:13:17 ): John, this has a wonderful mystic feeling to it. Your color choice for the girl's clothing adds that splash of contrasts to grab the viewer. I also like the way you've positioned the horse between the girls. You can see an attachment of each to the other. I like this very much.
By johnwillems (2008-02-05 23:49:36 ): Hello Connie, thanks so much for Your nuanced and appreciated comment. I'am happy that You like the image. A propos: congratulations with the B&W-Award!! Very fine image. From John.
By dawnschubert (2008-02-05 18:48:24 ): I do try to look at and read other peoples comments on other photographers work as much as I can, it's such a wonderful learning tool for me as a newbie here. Although I am not as articulate as many of the other photographers in their comments I do try and let people know what I like about their images. As I learn more about photography hopefully I will be able to express my thoughts a little better. I also wanted to let you know that I have visited your portfolio quite a few times and I admire your work-Dawn

By LindaJames (2008-02-05 05:02:12 ): This is just a super photo. It's a really good portrait of the girls and the horse but your treatment of it has elevated it to something else altogether.
By lynnrider (2008-02-05 01:49:08 ): I like the etching overlay a lot - I think it picks up the lines of the stall and the concrete block. It is subtle - but for me adds to the overall feel for the photo. Lynn
By johnwillems (2008-02-05 01:48:35 ): Thanks so very much Carlos. I do appreciate also Your fine, wise philosophical(?) words and critiques. I know, nothing is perfect, but the girls are so serious busy with their hobby, it was my inspiration source to make make these photograph. Friendli from John.
By karmal (2008-02-05 01:27:20 ): Hi John.
This image produces a strong emotional impact on the viewer. Not only by its surreal references but also by the intensity of the direct gaze of the 3 characters and by the intimacy and tenderness it conveys.
Carlos

By kujavic (2008-02-04 13:18:25 ): very nice and moody john. When i first saw the pic. i was strucked by the power in the girl eyes, but just the one on the write.Along with the horse they would make a very nice portrait, just the two of them??? Very nice photo..
By CJGroth (2008-02-04 09:45:39 ): The girls and horse are as one in their facial expressions and demeanor. The girls might be the guardians of the horse or possibly vice versa, they all have a very proprietary air about them as though they are a family standing solemn in the face of others. I like that the monochromatic image except for the color in the coats and a bit on the girls' heads. I like that they seem solid, yet ephemeral, as though they have just transported in from elsewhere. Beautiful, beautiful, John.
By lynnrider (2008-02-04 04:39:23 ): John - this is just beautiful! I like that all three subjects are looking at you - and yes, all three are serious. I like the overlay (?) of the grid in this. The lighting is gorgeous - the girls have beautiful skin and the lighting compliments it. This has a wonderful spirit to it. Again, beautiful! Lynn
By johnwillems (2008-02-04 03:43:39 ): Thank You very much Dawn. I do appreciate Your very nice feel/comment with "the ghostly"-effect. Better said than I can say it. Thanks again, from John.
