Photographer's Comment: Heatwave today, it was 36 out so decided to go out to one of the rivers around here hoping to find some eagles. Wow..saw about 15 and managed to get one half decent shot, but enjoyed watching these majestic birds soooo much! This guy actually was the one that got closest. Decided I need to do this more often! For sideways topic.

By smokeydawg (2008-01-29 00:15:07 ): Thanks for commenting Ezi, I was using Canon 70-300 f4-5.6 IS USM. Works pretty good, very sharp, just wish I had something a little longer for these guys. Don't have that much exp shooting eagles, but think something around 500mm would be better for it. This worked great if they got close enough.
By smokeydawg (2008-01-29 00:11:31 ): Hi Katia, what Jan was talking about is dust on the cameras sensor. The spot is at about 8:00 from the eagle just to the left of the lower left thirds intersection. Oh well I have dust bound to happen sooner or later, doesn't really present a problem unless shooting against a blue sky like this or certain other solid colors. Hope that helps explain.
By ezisafra (2008-01-29 00:06:23 ): Beautiful, what lens were you using?
By ktapio (2008-01-28 18:08:05 ): Carl, what an exceptional take on the assignment. One can not help but see the line drawn. By the way what on earth is (picture sensor) Jan mentioned and was so kind to explain it effect on the photo. And still I do not know how to see that dirt and if I see it how to clean it not only clone it.

By Isachsen (2008-01-28 13:35:53 ): He, he, Carl - you have dirt on your picture sensor - down a bit left at about 0800 (so take out the vaccum cleaner). These spots get softer the larger aperture you use, and at larger openings they almost are gone. But step down the lens to smaller stops than f8 and they are very visible. I like this eagle picture. Yes, they are majestic.
By whitewavesPTP (2008-01-28 03:27:45 ): WOW! Lucky you. Birds can be so difficult to shoot. Good work.
By lynnrider (2008-01-28 03:22:09 ): Beautiful! I like the positioning in the upper corner and the open space to show him soaring into it. PS - it was 63 here today after 11 a week ago:)
