Photographer's Comment: Found this about 8 steps from my back door in the yard. It's actually been above freezing here for the last couple days, so the appx 10 inches of snow we had on the ground is down to about 2 inches and this was what was revealed. The snow is a bit dirty, but that goes with the thaw. Hope it stays this way the rest of winter, yea right, as if!

By smokeydawg (2008-01-08 15:37:29 ): Duh, meant to also say it is actually from two different trees/ bushes. The leaves in upper left are from a crab apple tree and the other is from a rasberry bush I have in the back yard although I'm not sure how it got all the way across the yard to around the back door.
By smokeydawg (2008-01-08 15:35:00 ): I like you crop suggestion Jim, thanks! It does make the comp a bit stronger.
By MicheleMiller (2008-01-08 03:53:01 ): REAL..nice shot!
By Jim915 (2008-01-08 00:20:00 ): Poison Oak? The color contrasts are very nice and the flat light helps accentuate the coldness of the scene. The snow might be just a tad gray but my monitor is not calibrated (still waiting for the replacement for the one that died). The crop and cloning out the small brown spot at the lower right may not work for you but brings the plant into the viewer's visual space a bit more strongly I think.
By grovester (2008-01-07 19:18:37 ): I alway enjoy seeing your color studies. Leaving so much white really enhances what is there; i like the ratio and the placement.
By deborrah (2008-01-07 12:51:30 ): Really like the color, texture and comp..nice find!
By Isachsen (2008-01-07 10:44:33 ): This is also a very calm picture, showing nature doing its job of recycling the seasons. But our planet does it at such low "speed" that we don't always sense it, but just get a hint now and then of what is going on.
