Photographer's Comment: One of my goals for next year is to get better at landscapes as this is probably my weakest aspect in photography. This is way outside my comfort zone so any honest feedback will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Carl.

By mo (2007-11-25 16:10:43 ): I really enjoy the early morning misty wetness and the meandering stream pulls me strongly into the image. I find that I wish that the foreground foliage were less bright- it pulls my eye, competing with the more inviting, somewhat mysterious, depths of the image...

By BeatriceFriedli (2007-11-25 00:28:02 ): I think you did a great job ! My nit pick, the lower front left side. Those long branches stick out into the water and breaks the clean S curve of the water. BUT..that is just a nitpick and doesn't devalue this beautiful landscape. Looking forward to more

I like the framing you've incorporated with the foreground foliage that wraps/curves through the lower right corner though that seems to be a bit soft in focus. I think if that foreground framing were in sharper focus, you'd have an all around terrific fall landscape. I always find it difficult in landscapes getting that crispness throughout the image, especially in the foreground -- finding that focus point that brings the 1/3 in front into focus, I think, is the hard part and I miss it more often than I nail it, myself. Love your use of the stream/creek as the "path" leading us into and through the image. Peace, Dan
By CamGram (2007-11-23 20:18:17 ): Carl, I like this one. It definitely makes you "feel" the damp, cold weather that precedes Winter! While I can appreciate the beauty of your landscape, I have to say that I don't miss living up North this time of year.
By maureenyoung52 (2007-11-23 18:24:06 ): This looks very beautiful to me, but I'm no landscape photographer either. This is what I don't like about landscapes "another pretty picture" so what. It is boring to me maybe if I could find something more interesting about it, maybe a different angle or point of view it would be more interesting. Sorry, not much help.
By thulme (2007-11-23 18:19:44 ): For someone who claims to be outside their comfort zone I think you have done very nicely. I like the framing. Perhaps the colors in the foreground could be punched up a bit. I think that would add more depth. Overall though I really like this photo.
By carkins47 (2007-11-23 17:26:28 ): I love this type scene - and you captured it beautifully. I had also wondered if framing a shot as you did was generally accepted on this site. Looks like YES! The autumn colors positively dance in this shot. The mist in the bg adds charm.
By MartyFuchs (2007-11-23 17:17:39 ): carl, if you are out of your element- you are on the right track-i like this- i can feel the water moving and the leaves blowing- you did a good job here-maybe lighten up the right side that's a little dark -just a drop--other than that- bravo
