About John Stevenson:
I have been working with digital image montage and renderings for almost ten years. Initially I was intrigued by the use of software to assist in forming composite images which defied the norms of conventional photography - in setting aside, for example, the standard depth of focus and rectangular frame limitations of the camera. More recently the concentration has been upon capturing a “minds-eye” recollection of single scenes and subjects, through the use of highly selective re-renderings of the original image. Basically, my aim is to use digital image processing as a purposeful extension of conventional photography. Not simply to gain one specific effect or enhancement, but to move towards a restatement of the photo-visual relationship.
