About Diana Treglown:
I began my photography passion in the 50’s, when my Grandfather gave me my first camera...an old hand-me-down with a top that flipped up so you could view the shot you were taking. Naturally, it was film...and it only shot in B&W. But I was immediately in love with the idea that I could take photos of the things I found beautiful...and keep that beauty forever. This passion for photographs eventually lead me to major in Journalism at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, which lead me to work for several newspapers, over the next 30+ years. This was long before computers changed the industry...we were still using film...and mostly B&W...and we developed our film and negatives and shots ourselves. I eventually grew restless in my chosen profession...but became facinated with the production end of publishing. So, while still maintaining my day job at the newspapers, I talked a printshop owner/graphic artist in Winston-Salem, NC to hire me (for minimum wage) and teach me everything he knew. I would leave my day-job and immediately go to Mel’s Printshop and work for another 5-8 hours...just so I could learn (back then, there were NO graphic art classes and/or schools...you HAD to learn from somebody willing to teach you). I did this for almost two years...until my husband and I had our first (and only) child and we ended up relocating to Boise, ID ~ so my parents could be close with their only grandchild. I stayed in the newspaper/publishing industry for the remainder of my working career...becoming a top-floor, international graphic designer and calligrapher. And my passion for photography kinda slid back into a corner...buried under the day-to-day events of working and being (eventually) a single Mom. Then, 10 years ago, I was given a digital camera as a birthday present from my (soon-to-be) husband...and the passion ignited again!! Since then, we have spent a small fortune on cameras and computers and lenses and programs, etc.!! Now that I am retired, we get to spend a lot of time traveling and capturing all the beauty that surrounds us...and I hope you enjoy my attempts to preserve it. ~ :o) Diana
