Assignment: Insects in a Kids’ Book

Don't be bashful! If you want comments, give comments. You don't need to be an expert photographer to express your opinion about the work of others. You don't need to go into great depth. A simple remark about cropping, composition, color, subject matter, etc. can be of just as much help to a budding photographer as an in-depth critique.

For this assignment, imagine that a friend of yours has written a children’s book about insects. Knowing that you are an excellent macro photographer, your friend asks you to photograph an insect to go on the front cover of the book. Insects can be scary-looking, but try to make the photo look as child-friendly and approachable as possible. Choose your most cover-worthy image and post it to the Web site.
